I've seen several of these posts, and I've really enjoyed reading them. I think it's so interesting to see how other families get through their day! So, here is a day in the life of my little family!
6:30-7:15 a.m. I get up, take a shower, do my hair, and slap some make-up on my face. Some people might think this step is kinda dumb and unnecesary since I'm a stay at home mom, but PCOS has always caused me to deal with excess facial hair (so embarrassing!), and basically because of that I CANNOT and WILL NOT go a single day without make-up!
7:15-8 a.m. I use this time before the kids get up for the day to read a devotional and the Bible. I also use this time to pray for any special prayer requests that I have, or that I know other people have. This part of my day is probably the most important thing I do all day. I encourage you to try to set aside a few minutes everyday and spend it with God, you won't regret it!
8-9:15 a.m. Jackie and Levi are up! I make Levi a bottle, and Jackie gets a cup of milk and her choice of breakfast. She usually chooses either scrambled eggs or cereal. I usually eat some eggs, toast, and coffee with Jackie during this time. I also make Roger some eggs for breakfast so that way something is ready as soon as he gets up. After breakfast I get the kids changed and dressed for the day, I also wrangle Jackie so I can do something with her crazy hair!
9:15-10:15 am Jackie and I do some kind of learning activity. I use a preschool curriculum called Carol's Affordible Curriculum. I LOVE this curriculum! I order it online right from the website. It's very cheap, and you do either a craft or a learning worksheet everyday. What I love most about this particular program is that they send you every single print out and arts and craft thing you need. All you have to have on hand is like crayons, paint, markers, scissors, and glue. There are several different curriculums to choose from depending on age. It's geared towards home daycares, but you can choose how many curriculums you want to order. It's great! If you're looking for something educational to do with your child everyday you gotta check out Carol's Afforible Curriculum!
Also, during this time Roger wakes up for the day! Once roger wakes up we have what we call a family alter. Roger takes this time to read a small portion of the Bible to us, and then we pray together as a family. This is my favorite moment of the day. I love seeing Jackie and Levi watching their Daddy reading the Bible and praying over them!
10:15-11 a.m. I hit the gym while Roger spends some time with the kiddos. Levi usually catches a quick nap during this time.
11a.m. - 12p.m. Roger goes to the gym while I start our "linner." That's what we call our second meal for the day. We tend to eat our largest meal at lunch time instead of dinner time because Roger works 4p.m.- 12p.m. hence the name "linner." Today we had a freezer meal I had on hand which was BBQ chicken and twiced baked potatoes, yum!
I usually give the kids a little snack to hold them over until it's time to eat. Today Jackie had some animal crackers and juice. Levi just wanted some juice, he is soo picky!
12-12:15 p.m. Roger comes home and takes a quick shower. I get Jackie's shoes on her.
12:15-1:15 p.m. We all head to the park! Jackie loves to swing and climb the steps to the slide. Levi also loves to swing and crawl around in the grass. It feels so good to get out of the house and get some fresh air!
1:15-2:15 p.m. We head back to the house and sit down to eat some BBQ chicken and twiced baked potatoes, it was so good! By this time both kids are melting down and are in a desperate need of a nap. By 2:15 p.m. both kids are changed and napping in the living room. I know it's strange but Jackie loves sleeping on the couch during the day, and Levi prefers to nap in his swing which is also in the living room, so we figured, why not? Eventually we plan to get them to nap in their rooms, but for right now this works perfectly.
2:15-3:15 p.m. This is me and Roger's quiet time together. We usually chit chat, watch something on Netflix, and um...ya know, do the usual things that two people who love each other do ;) !
3:15-4:15 p.m. Roger leaves for work. The kids will nap for one more hour. So, depending on how I'm feeling, I will either lay down and catch a quick nap or I will watch something on Netflix or youtube. Some days I use this time to do a craft or get some cleaning done in the bedrooms and the bathroom.
4:15-4:30 p.m. Jackie and Levi wake up. I change them and we all eat a snack. Today Jackie had some peanut butter crackers. Levi just had a bottle, again, he is soo picky!
4:30-5:30 p.m. I call this free play time. I love playing with my kids but I do think it's important to give them free play where they can learn to play and entertain themselves. While Jackie is playing with her play kitchen, or playing dress up, Levi loves to practice crawling and cruising on all the furniture. While they are playing, I load the dish washer, wipe down the kitchen counters, and throw another freezer meal into the fridge to defrost overnight.
5:30-6:15 p.m. Some t.v. time! We love the show Signing Time on Netflix. My kids both use some sign language to express their needs and this show is so helpful with learning basic everyday signs.
6:15-7 p.m. This is when we have our "lunch" foods because we already had our largest meal for the day. Today, Jackie and I had grilled ham and cheese sandwiches with strawberry and banana slices. Levi had his baby cereal and sweet potato and carrot baby food.
7-7:30 p.m. A little bit more t.v. time. This time Jackie asked me to watch her favorite movie. She calls it Nwoo but the actual name is Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. If you've seen the movie, then you know why she calls it Nwoo, haha!
7:30-8 p.m. Bath time! After bath time both kids get their pj's on.
8-9 p.m. We finish watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, we also play blocks and read books. Finally around 9, it's time to wind down and clean-up the living room. I usually give Jackie a little snack before bed. She has a small cup of milk and more animal crackers.
9-9:30 p.m. Jackie finishes her snack. Both kids get changed into their overnight diapers and they get their teeth brushed. I tuck Jackie into bed and she goes to sleep pretty easily (thank goodness). I sit in my recliner to feed Levi his bottle while he falls to sleep. Once he finishes his bottle I transfer him to his crib and he is down for the night. Thankfully, both kids sleep through the night now ( hopefully, I didn't just jinx myself, ha!)
9:30-midnight I will wash off all my make-up and maybe do a beauty mask. After the beauty treatment I always moisturize. Then, I will usually browse Pinterest, watch beauty videos on YouTube, or a show on Netflix until I either fall asleep, or until Roger gets home. I find that I have a horrible time sleeping until he gets home.
And that's it! This is basically what happens most days. The only day that is totally different is Sunday because we spend all morning in church! And Sundays are my day off from cooking. Wednesdays and Thursdays are similar but more fun because those are Roger's days off, so it's basically our weekend. Well, anyway, I hope y'all enjoyed this post! Have a blessed day!
Sounds like a great routine for a great family! Thank so much for the comment and the prayers for my sister!
ReplyDeleteNo problem, Melissa! I hope everything went well! :)
DeleteBusy!!! It's nice to have a routine though! I'm just impressed you get a shower every morning :) Glad you have some 'me' time before the kiddos get up in the morning!
ReplyDeleteLol, yes we are very busy! I'm one of those people that just can't function without a shower everyday!
